One of the most exclusive neighborhoods on Lake James, Black Forest has only 56 home sites on over 600 acres. The setting is densely wooded with beautiful large old-growth trees. Each large home site is from three to 20 acres. Amenities include a lake camp with community boat slips for interior lots, community pavilion, river camp with tree house, a canoe and kayak launch, and storage facilities. A full-time caretaker looks after the community. The architectural styles are in keeping with the setting – only Adirondack-style, community wood and stone homes are permitted. Located on the northwest end of the Lake, Black Forest is approximately 10 miles from Marion in McDowell County.
