With the new and changing vision for Lake James emerging, new community plans have come about. One result is Dry Creek, two additional phases of the original Southpointe community, which opened in 2005. Dry Creek features larger, wooded homesites, community parks and walking trails. As few trees as possible are disturbed for construction of the wood and stone structures. Dry Creek residents also share the Southpointe amenities of a pool, clubhouse and community boat slips. This community is located adjacent to Southpointe on the northeast end of the lake approximately 10 miles from Morganton.
