The RiverClub

The RiverClub

Lake James Real Estate is proud to introduce The RiverClub. A new 180-acre private development along the Catawba River, this exclusive area is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, just outside the town of Morganton.

The Catawba River
The property is located five miles downstream from Lake James, where the Catawba makes a sweeping turn from due north to due south. Because Lake James is fed primarily by the Catawba and Linville rivers, which begin on the peaks of the Blue Ridge Mountains, its waters are consistently ranked as some of the purest in the southeast. In fact, the two-mile section of the Catawba River which runs right through The RiverClub was recently awarded status and protection afforded only to Trophy Trout Waters.

While the Catawba is the undeniable cornerstone of The RiverClub, this special property also directly faces the monuments of the Blue Ridge Mountains: Grandfather Mountain, Table Rock and Hawksbill Mountain. The views are breathtaking and visitors to The RiverClub feel immediately at peace and at home.

A 16-stall equestrian stable consistent with the demands of today’s riders has been completed. Located on an open, flat parcel of land within The RiverClub, the facilities are beautifully designed and incredibly well built. Each stall has its own outdoor-facing window and door, a ceiling fan and just enough space for each horse to feel right at home. Taking a moment to walk around the stable, you’ll understand why equestrians will choose to make their home at The RiverClub.

Equestrian Facility at The RiverClub
While the equestrian element is optional, the tranquility of The RiverClub is not; serenity and calm permeate the property. The natural preserve created by this incredible sweep of river is a treasure in itself. Members of The RiverClub will enjoy sitting on the Adirondack chairs pleasingly scattered around the river bend. Canoes, kayaks and paddle boats are also provided, and your friends and family will have plenty of space to enjoy themselves. As evidenced by its trophy status, this section of the river boasts superb fly-fishing, and equestrian trails meander along the river and through the trees.

Pastures at The RiverClub
Planning allows for only thirty-five home sites on this land, ranging from 1.16 to 5.27 acres. Some sites overlook the river, some provide awesome views of the mountains, and some include both. The roadways are easy to navigate and drive through; none are too steep or too flat, and visitors can easily imagine calling The RiverClub home, an idyllic place to live.

The RiverClub Canoe
Cousins Sterling and Robert Collett have thoughtfully developed special properties for eight years including Grandmother Mountain, The Farm at Banner Elk and Big Rough Knob. Having conserved over fifty percent of the acreage through dispersal to conservation entities, the Colletts take custodianship of land very seriously. The RiverClub is no exception. Their first development in Burke County, and their family’s home for three generations, you can be certain they will take great care of this very special land.
