Black Forest at Lake James
Black Forest one of the most exclusive neighborhoods on Lake James, has only 56 home sites on over 600 acres. The setting is densely wooded with beautiful large old-growth trees. Public school students attend North Cove Elementary, East McDowell Middle, and McDowell High School. Private and parochial schools are also located in the area. McDowell Early College is another option.
Take Interstate 40 to Exit 86. Go north on Highway 226N/221N. Turn right on Hankins Road. Turn left on Lake James Road past Lake James Lodge and Lake James Landing. Turn right on Black Forest Drive at the gate.
Homes are about 45 minutes from the Asheville Airport and over an hour from Charlotte International Airport. Three miles north of Marion, Shiflet Field accommodates private aircraft.
Other nearby lake subdivisions on the northwest side of Lake James include Bear Cliff to the north and The Arbor and Plantation Point across the lake.
