One of the three established communities on Lake James, Holiday Shores offers the charm of larger trees, less restrictions and a fully mature neighborhood. Developed in the 1970s, it is located on the southeast side of the Lake, some 12 miles from Morganton.
The pioneering Lake James neighborhood of Holiday Shores enforces fewer restrictions than some of the newer subdivisions around the lake. These lake properties are tucked into the woods directly on the south shore of the lake or with lake access. Marvelous views ring out over the moving waters and forested mountains in view from the decks.
Homes are convenient to abundant lake recreation—boating, fishing, camping, bird watching, hiking and biking, among others. Nearby, Marion and Morganton host plenty of cultural activities, too. Leisure activities entice family and friends to shopping and restaurants, wineries tours, museums, and community events.
Holiday Shores claims a favorable location close to Highway 126, Lake James Campground, Nebo, Glen Alpine, and Linville. Twelve miles west of Morganton, the Holiday Shores community sits on the south shore about five miles from I-40.
Holiday Shores – Lake James Real Estate
A great value, the established Lake James neighborhood is comprised of classic style homes in the $300,000-$600,000 range. They range from about 1200 square feet to 3500 square feet. Older homes tend to have excellent vantage points and are usually smaller than today’s modern estates. Architecture includes chalets, cabins, cottages, lake homes, traditional Southern, and others.
Substantial-sized parcels of a third-acre to over an acre are secluded in the wooded area. Many homes have been built in the past decade as vacant lots do come on the market occasionally. A 0.6-acre lot is currently priced at $34,000, a certain bargain for NC lake property.
Street names include North and South Shore Drive, Holiday Shores Avenue, East Point Road, North Point Street. Nearby subdivisions include Mallard Cove and Laurel Point.
Public school students attend Glen Alpine Elementary School, Table Rock Middle School, and Freedom High School. There are also Christian schools in the area.
Take Interstate 40 to Benefields Landing Road. Turn left at the entrance on Holiday Shores Avenue.
